The Diwali vacation is Gujarat's biggest travel season, and 2026's calendar is generous: with Diwali on Sunday 8 November, Bhai Bij and the school break stretch the window from late October past mid-November. November also happens to be the single best weather month across Dubai, Thailand, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Kashmir. The catch: everyone in Ahmedabad knows this. Diwali is on Sunday, 8 November 2026. Most Ahmedabad schools close for about three weeks, roughly from the end of October to around 22 November. New Year (Bestu Varas) falls on 10 November and Bhai Bij on 11 November 2026.
Nepal (no visa), Sri Lanka (free entry for Indians), Maldives (free visa on arrival), and Thailand (visa on arrival) can be booked even in October.
